In Her Image — Solo Exhibition by Afrocentric Keyy
“In Her Image” is a portrait art exhibition exploring the layered expressions of womanhood through oil paintings on reclaimed wood. Created by Brooklyn-based artist Afrocentric Keyy, this exhibition brings together a range of works produced across different seasons of her artistic practice.
Through portraiture, symbolism, and textured wood surfaces, the work reflects the many ways womanhood can be experienced and expressed — strength, vulnerability, beauty, protection, intuition, and transformation. Each piece invites viewers to consider how identity, memory, and personal expression shape the ways women are seen and represented.
The exhibition opens on March 20th at Poise, with a special opening-night artist talk in which the artist will share insights into her creative process, the evolution of the work, and the themes behind the exhibition. Guests will have the opportunity to engage with the artwork, connect with other art lovers, and participate in a thoughtful conversation about creativity and feminine expression.
This event is in celebration of Women’s History Month, celebrating the power of artistic storytelling and the many dimensions of womanhood.

Opening Reception
Thursday, October 9th, 2025

Curated by Adrienne Wheeler and Cheyenne Ceasar for Newark Arts, Pure Joy features over 70 visual artists responding to the festival call to explore joy as a creative force. The works—spanning painting, film, and mixed-media—affirm joy as more than an emotion. They reveal joy as resistance, resilience, and love for life.
About the Exhibition
Pure Joy celebrates Newark Arts Festival 2025 and the transformative power of joy. Featuring more than 70 artists, this exhibition illuminates joy as a catalyst for catharsis, resilience, and hope.
As poet and activist Audre Lorde reminds us: “Once we recognize we can feel deeply, we can love deeply, we can feel joy, then we will demand that all parts of our lives produce that kind of joy.”

"Finding Alignment" Solo Exhibition 2025
Finding Alignment is an immersive art exhibition that captures the moment of clarity one seeks while standing at the crossroads of who they once were and who they are becoming. Through Afrocentric Keyy’s striking Afro-Realism portraits on recycled wood, the collection explores unexpected life shifts—those unannounced moments that bring discomfort, uncertainty, and transformation. It is through these moments that the artist grounds herself in her core values, using art as a tool to release the past and align with the present.
Blending resilience, cultural symbolism, and eco-conscious storytelling, this exhibition invites viewers into a space of deep reflection, personal discovery, and communal connection.
The weekend kicked off with an unforgettable evening of art, conversation, and soulful gathering. Guests enjoyed culturally inspired signature cocktails by Bastian Spirits, inclusive mocktails by SebX Mok, and handcrafted desserts from Jordyn’s Sweet Divinity—each created with care to complement the exhibition’s themes of intention and alignment.
On the second day, visitors were invited to step beyond the canvas during a soul-stirring Artist Talk. Afrocentric Keyy shared the inspirations, ancestral influences, and intuitive processes behind her work. Through open dialogue and storytelling, guests engaged with the deeper symbolism embedded in the collection, leaving with a renewed sense of clarity, connection, and creative energy.
Whether drawn by the visuals, the storytelling, or the energy of the space, Finding Alignment offered a multi-sensory experience of healing, truth, and becoming.

Night Vision: A Look Through The Eyes Of Afrocentric Keyy
Join us for an extraordinary evening of artistic exploration at Night Vision: A Look Through The Eyes Of Afrocentric Keyy. This in-person event will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 5:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time).
For one night only Afrocentric Keyy offers you the experience of roaming through her creative mind in her solo exhibition entitled “Night Vision: A Look Through The Eyes of Afrocentric Keyy.” Eyes are the windows to the soul and sometimes we can find ourselves peering through another’s view. What a magical opportunity we have to witness the subjects that have caught Afrocentric Keyy’s eye and reverberated through her mind to birth this illustrious collection of works.
The works conceptualized and created are all portraits of black heroes and heroines birthed on wood panels. The figures are postured in regality and they remind us of our innate sense of grandeur and vivaciousness, while maintaining the natural wood grain texture as a backdrop. The warmth of the grain tethers us back to our roots, with subjects in bright colors provide a stunning contrast and imprint on the viewer's mind. The purpose of the show is starkly clear, to capture the natural beauty of black people in the diaspora and to serve as a mirror for each person in attendance.
Sparking confidence and self curiosity, this exhibition serves as a reminder for the exploration of finding beauty in ourselves, our community and our culture, despite the societal influence that may convince us otherwise. “Night Vision: A Look Through The Eyes of Afrocentric Keyy” . It beckons the viewer to see themselves untainted and unmarred from the expectations of others and compels them to view themselves as the beacons of light that they truly are. Magnificent cadence and stunning reminders of people deserving immortality through the brush of this artist.
